Six coffee's to survive university

I am almost halfway through the first year of my diploma in youth work. It's been a roller coaster of emotions and mental breakdowns, and successes. It hasn't always been easy sailing. But it's been rewarding, and I've found my calling. I am a practising youth worker. As we know, stress and anxiety triggers seizures. Thank god coffee doesn't affect mine! Because I don't know how I'd get through the day. Considering that Epilepsy can disturb my education, I've managed to pull through it with self-care and putting my health first before anything else. A year ago, I started from the very beginning doing a foundation course in psychology and sociology, not knowing where it would take me at the end of 2020 I graduated. Being out of education for so many years, I was clueless and all through my years of education, from the very beginning, I was told I was never good enough that I wouldn't make it, that I'd fail and drop out. Those words stuck with me until I found my confidence, and with the assistance of my tutors and learning support, I found my feet, and I started to see results from the hard work I put in.

Now in 2021, as a first-year youth work student, my confidence has blossomed. I aim high and work hard. I never give up, even on my lowest days, which is a massive motivator to keep going no matter how hard it gets. My epilepsy might be a barrier, but I jump through those hurdles keep on running even though I am not a fan of running, haha, unless it is netball, that's a different story. I have proven to people who doubted me that I could do anything I set my mind to because once I start something there is no stopping me. To any of you who are stuck on what they want to do in their life or struggle to see your potential, it is there don't listen to what others say. Epilepsy may be difficult to deal with, but there are ways to manage it and follow your dreams at the same time, yes it is a juggling act at times, but you learn to be good at multi-tasking. This is just the beginning I have many more journies to experience.
